Oracle Sued By Strip Club Over A $33,540 Unpaid Bill
When you want services, the general idea is that you have to pay for them. But one Oracle employee did the strip club equivalent of dining and dashing. According to a lawsuit, employee Jose Manuel Gomez-Sanchez allegedly ran up a bill of $33,540 with two rounds–each two days apart–of hard partying at the New Century Theatre during last year’s OpenWorld Fest. On the first night, he racked up $16,490 in charges, and on the second night, $17,050.
One flyer from New Theatre read, “San Francisco’s Premier All-Nude Gentleman’s Club Welcomes Convention Attendees.” Strip clubs must love corporate clients, attending conventions and getting a little too corporate-card happy.
Though spokespeople from both Oracle and New Century have declined to comment, it’s pretty obvious what’s going on here. Oracle refused to foot the bill, but New Century is taking it all the way with a lawsuit filed in San Francisco Superior Court to get its money for services rendered.
The bigger question, though, is what exactly costs that much money? We’ll let your creative minds come up with your own conclusions on that one. An even better lingering question is: is Gomez still with Oracle?
In an ironic twist of events, the lawsuit is unveiled during this year’s OpenWorld. CEO Larry Ellison kicked off the event with a speech about Oracle’s progression. He discussed faster and new Oracle technology, and seemed to be in good spirits. This at the end of the day is chump change for Oracle.
